Soon your Wii could teach you to knit (really)

Soon your Wii could teach you to knit (really)

There are a couple of reasons I was intererested in this story:

1. It”s always great to hear about new and inventive applications for existing technologies; and

2. I”m not a good knitter. In fact, I”m mid-scarf, and have no idea what to do when this ball of wool runs out.

According to Crafty Crafty, there”s a new idea which might help me and all the other craft-challenged people out there. Called kniitiing (which has a few too many “i”s for me to feel comfortable with it), a Wii application has just been launched in beta which allows users to learn to knit using Wii controllers.

It follows the same principles as Dance Dance Revolution, except instead of learning killer moves you could get a great new scarf/hat/sweater from the deal.

Lowrance Trio of GeoCaching Treasures

Lowrance Trio of GeoCaching Treasures

I am a Geocacher. If you have not given the sport a try, then you should get out right now and check it out. I promise there is a Geocache in your area. The hobby is fun, healthy, and with the exception of a GPS device, it is free. Speaking of GPS devices, Lowrance has just released a trio of new GPS receivers, and they are both beautiful and functional.

I have used a Garmin for years for Geocaching, and recently, I have been using an iPhone. My Garmin is about to die, and I am afraid to do anything actually exciting with my iPhone 3G for fear that I will break the darn thing. The three new Lowrance GPS devices, the Lorance Outback, Lowrance Safari and Lowrance Sierra are very rugged and usable devices that can stand up to any punishment I can dish out. All three devices feature 2.7 inch touch displays that are full color, a microSD slot, and basemap set. The Safari adds to the mix a barometric altimeter, and the Sierra includes a 3D electronic compass and NAVTEQ street maps.

The three Lowrance GPS devices are due out this May (the perfect Geocache month) and will range from $229 to $550. The rugged factor and the color touch screen are definitely a temptation. I will check them out in may while I am out poking around for a Cache.

Peel Off light

Peel Off light

Peel Off light. How about personalizing your lamp? If you don”t have time to customize or personalize it, then we would say the best option would be the “Peel Off Light” by Sehwan Oh. Though it”s a mass-produced lamp but it can be customized by peeling off the pre-scored tiles. Just one more thing, if you need more illumination, you need to peel off little more tiles.
